A sterilization tank is a device used for sterilizing liquids, solids, or other substances, commonly found in medical, pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic industries. It utilizes high-temperature, high-pressure steam, chemicals, or dry heat to kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microorganisms, ensuring that the sterilized substances are free from contaminants. The use of a sterilization tank effectively prevents infections, contamination, and product spoilage, thereby ensuring the safety and quality of the products.
The basic working principle of a sterilization tank is as follows:
1. Sealing: Place the items to be sterilized into the sterilization tank and ensure the tank is completely sealed.
2. Heating: Use a heating system (such as an electric heater or steam generator) to raise the temperature inside the tank to the predetermined sterilization temperature (usually 121°C or higher).
3. Pressurizing: Simultaneously increase the pressure inside the tank to raise the boiling point, ensuring that the liquid medium does not boil at high temperatures.
4. Sterilizing: Maintain the high-temperature, high-pressure state for a certain period to kill microorganisms.
5. Cooling: After sterilization, gradually lower the temperature and pressure to bring the tank back to normal temperature and pressure.
6. Ventilating: Release any residual gas and steam inside the tank, open the tank, and remove the sterilized items.
Sterilization tanks can be classified into different types based on their applications and needs, such as:
- High-Pressure Steam Sterilization Tank: Uses high-temperature, high-pressure steam for sterilization, suitable for medical instruments, culture media, solutions, etc.
- Dry Heat Sterilization Tank: Uses high-temperature dry heat for sterilization, suitable for glassware, metal tools, and other items not suitable for moist heat.
- Chemical Sterilization Tank: Uses chemicals like ethylene oxide or hydrogen peroxide for sterilization, suitable for heat-sensitive items.
When using a sterilization tank, it is essential to strictly follow the operating procedures to ensure effective sterilization and equipment safety. Regular maintenance and calibration are also crucial for the normal operation of the sterilization tank and to ensure effective sterilization.
